Joerg Strube is a German songwriter and composer whose work is rooted in personal experience, memory and emotional honesty.
Songwriting is at the centre of his musical identity. Long before music became such an important creative focus, Strube had already experienced another demanding environment at a professional level: football.
As a young player, he developed through the youth systems of 1. FC Köln and Bayer 04 Leverkusen, represented Germany at youth international level and later played professional football for Rot-Weiss Essen. His career ended at a very young age after a serious knee injury.
That experience became one of several defining turning points in his life. Having to let go of a path that once seemed certain, adapt and start again shaped a mindset that continues to influence his songwriting today. Themes such as resilience, change, disappointment and finding a way forward appear throughout his work, often without being stated explicitly.
